The University of Navarra in Spain undertook a football study to find out the most valuable top players of the world.

Fernando came in at 3rd place being valued around 67.1 million Euros – the third most expensive player in the world. Coming in at 2nd was Barcelona’s Leonel Messi at 80.2 million Euros.

Finally, Real Madrid’s new addition, Cristiano Ronaldo, came in at 82.5 million Euros – clinching the first place spot. The top three players are pretty much a repeat of the FIFA World Player award and France Football’s Balon d’Or.

The Spanish study also revealed that the Premier League is the top league in the world (shocker) as it has some of the top players such as; Fernando Torres, Gerrard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Drogba and Tevez for the 08/09 season.

Maybe with the new season fastly approaching us, the top line up can switch around – who knows by this time next year Torres can take over the number one spot? What do you think? Who do you believe as a fan is the most valuable player and worth of the number one place?
