Fernando Torres No Longer A Red But A Blue

It’s official, Fernando Torres is now a Chelsea blue as you can very well see on the article banner.

Yeah, let that picture sear into your brain, weird huh?

Fernando spoke to his official website and stated the following:

“I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new team-mates this season and for many years to come.”

“Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to England, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team. I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season.”

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck had the following to say about their new Spanish striker:

“This is a very significant day for Chelsea, capturing one of the best players in the world with his peak years ahead of him. We have long admired the talents of a player who is a proven goalscorer in English football and Fernando’s arrival is a sign of our continuing high ambitious. I hope every Chelsea fan is as excited as I am with this news.”

The chairman’s view was backed by Chief executive Ron Gourlay who added:

“Signing a player of the stature of Fernando Torres benefits the club on many levels. Carlo Ancelotti was keen to add his talents to the squad as we continue our quest for three trophies this season, we are delighted we have succeed with that wish, and this signing will undoubtedly aid the club in realizing our worldwide potential.”

With the departure of one of their best player’s, Liverpool wasted no time in replacing the number 9, giving it over to new recruit Andy Carroll.

With the new move maybe now Torres will finally get those trophies and accolades he so desperately seems to seek. Here’s to a new start with Chelsea and the best of luck for Torres.

***UPDATE: Apparently Chelsea got Torres for a fee of £50 million.

Torres To Chelsea, For £95 Million Transfer Package?!

Well it’s been a world wind time for Spaniard Fernando Torres, who’s had many up’s and down’s since arriving to Liverpool back in 2007.

The Liverpool striker officially handed in a transfer request that was denied by the club last Friday.

A highly coveted player, Chelsea have been the primary club set on obtaining the Spanish ace. Rumors circulating that they were willing to offer up to £50 million for Torres.

An offer that didn’t seem to be enough for Liverpool, who, as stated earlier, denied the transfer request.

Although it can easily be argued that Fernando Torres is an asset for any team, is it the wisest thing to keep him around, especially if his so keen on leaving the team?

According to MailOnline.com it seems the vibe around the Liverpool locker room is if Torres doesn’t want to belong to the team, then he shouldn’t be made to stay.

In a last ditch effort to lock in Torres and convince Liverpool to part ways with their striker, Chelsea is willing to shell out a whopping £95 million transfer package!

Chelsea will try to push through the signing of Fernando Torres on Monday with a stunning £95million transfer package they believe will trigger an escape clause in the Liverpool striker’s contract.

Roman Abramovich is ready to commit the staggering sum to secure the service of Torres, with £50m needed to activate the clause they are now confident exists.

A further £45m will be guaranteed to the 26-year-old in a five-year deal that would see him earn £175,000 a week.

Happy New Years! Let's Hope 2011 Treats Torres Better Than 2010….

After a year riddled with injuries and poor performances with both Liverpool and national team Spain at the World Cup this past summer, 2011 is a welcomed new change for the Spanish ace.

Not all was bad for the El Niño, who so happened to have a niño of his own this past month, baby Leo anyone?

Even though he wasn’t in the best of form this past year, Torres along side his Spanish comrades took the 2010 World Cup, blowing out the German armada, who were demolishing through tournament heavy weights England and Argentina.

Even though 2010 tested Torres by dragging him through the ringers, it can be said such experiences will only better the number ’9′.

Let’s hope Torres can learn from his past trails and tribulations to make 2011 a smashing success both in his football career and in life. To the new year!

On a side note, I’ve missing the latest picture updates, so I’ll post the following…..
