The Reds had an amazing run during the Champions League tournament, unfortunately their dreams of winning were crushed by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week.

Even after the disappointment of loosing there’s no time to pout and cry, no. Now Liverpool has the luxury of completely concentrating on the Premier League and knocking out rivals Manchester United out of the competition. It wont be easy, but with the resilient determination Liverpool and its players have, it is a strong possibility.

The Reds where without their leader Steven Gerrard, who sat out due to injury for the Arsenal clash. The beginning thirty-five minutes were all Liverpool’s who dominated the ball, but unfortunately for them it would be Arsenal who would take the lead.

The play began when Javier Mascherano was robbed of possession by Samir Nasri who then found Spaniard Cesc Fabregas, who in turn cut the ball back for Andrei Arshavin to crash home off the bar and give Arsenal their first goal of the game.

With the first half gone it was up to Liverpool to put their game faces on and go out to the pitch and score. Fortunately Nando was up to the task and from the get go scored an equalizer at the forty-eight minute with an excellent header. The shot was Torre’s 12th Premier League goal in 20 appearances.

The Anfield fans didn’t have to wait long for another goal, as Kuyt found Yossi Benayoun at the far post to head the ball over the line. After ten minutes of constant pressure from Liverpool, Arsenal should thank their lucky stars, as a goal out of the blue was given by Arsenal’s own Arshavin.

The Russian was on fire already scoring two goals for his side Arshavin wasn’t done yet. With more fuel in his tank he managed to give Arsenal yet another goal, his third for the night. Thankfully for Liverpool the lead didn’t last long as our very own Fernando Torres found pace inside the Arsenal box before shooting low into the bottom left hand corner and creating yet another goal for the Reds.

With time nearing the end, Liverpool pushed on looking for a winning strike to put Arsenal away. No such luck happened as Theo Walcott found Andrei Arshavin who made no mistake with a fine left-footed finish. There was still some time for Benayoun to find the back of the net in stoppage time as the midfielder fired home from six yards out.

The last two minutes were all Liverpool as the home side tried desperately to claim all three points, but there was no time for any more goal action as the game ended 4-4. Now the Reds lead the Premiership and hope to stay there, but only time can tell as we see the outcome of Manchester United vs. Portsmouth later on.
